What is Kangen Water exactly?

What is Alkaline Water?
Alkaline water is also known as Kangen water in Japan and literally means "return to original." Alkaline water has been used in Japan for more than 40 years and has been shown to help restore the body to its original, healthy condition. When tested for ORP (oxidizing reduction potential), it shows a NEGATIVE reading. It has an adjustable pH reading of 8.5 - 9.5, making it alkaline, which is the opposite of acidic.

What has the Japanese research shown?
This is a medically tested and proven approach to preventive action. The Japanese Ministry of Health - the equivalent of the FDA here in the USA - is very strict. They reject application after application for pharmaceutical drugs, and yet have approved the Kangen Water Machine units as medical devices. Keep this in mind. This isn't just an appliance for your home, it's a medical device.
What are the uses of Alkaline/acidic water?

Drinking water. To keep the body properly hydrated and assist with colon function.

For taking supplements. Alkaline water has outstanding dissolving, extracting and anti-oxidizing properties that will enhance the effectiveness of any supplements you may be taking.

As a skin toner. Use mild acid 5.5 pH water as a skin toner to give your skin a healthy, radiant shine.

After consuming alcohol. Dilute the acidity of the alcohol and prevent hangovers. Use alkaline water ice cubes with your drinks and ingest a sufficient quantity of alkaline water before bed to prevent a hangover.

For drinking during meals. When eating acidic foods such as meat, egg yolks, white bread, etc, drinking kangen water will help balance the pH.

For cooking. Alkaline water can be used to soak vegetables and meats, eliminating the strong smells of onions or any game meat, for example. Alkaline water will bring out the natural flavors in vegetables as well as a rich color in spinach and other greens. This natural flavor will require less stocks and seasonings to be used. Kangen also has stronger heat conduction than regular water, effectively cutting as much as 30% from cooking times. The uses are many, but the single greatest benefit remains improved intestinal and colon health. As you already know, a large portion of the free radicals in your body are created by a toxic colon. Free radicals also account for 70% of chronic diseases, such as cancer and diabetes. Every day you remain dehydrated and every day you don't take action against the free radicals and acid build-up throughout your bowels and body, you are basically encouraging disease in your body.
How do we begin drinking Kangen Water®?
It is most common to begin by setting a low pH1 level (between pH8 and pH9.0), and gradually increasing the amount of intake. After continuing regular intake for about two weeks, gradually adjust the pH level and amount of intake (between pH9.0-pH9.5) based on your bodily needs and physical condition. The Kangen Water® should be as fresh as possible.
For children or seniors, set the pH level at an even lower level upon starting, and gradually increase it as the body adjusts to the current pH level.
In the case of infants (until about a year old), since breast milk or milk is the only thing they consume, the intestinal movement is generally different from adults, and the use of Kangen Water® is not encouraged until the infant begins to consume more sophisticated foods. In any case, Kangen Water® should not be used to make powdered milk for infants.
What is the white fogginess in Kangen water?
The white fogginess apparent in Kangen water is simply a result of hydrogen gas being released through electrolysis, and does not pose a problem. If you rest the glass for a while the white fogginess should disappear. Research focused on dissolved hydrogen released through electrolysis of water was presented at The Japan Functional Water Association Meeting 1 in late December of 2002. It reported that Kangen water is effective in controlling the oxidation of lipids in the body. It also reported that dissolved hydrogen 2 present in the colloidal 3 state has a higher activity level than active hydrogen4 produced at the instance of reaction. Based on this report, the need for broader data collection and further scientific analysis was recognized.
Can Kangen Water® be used to take medication?
Kangen Water® is intended for everyday drinking and cooking rather than for drinking with medication. The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare gives the following directions:

Do not take medication with machine-produced water.

Do not drink machine-produced water if you have anaciditas*

Seek help from a doctor or pharmacist if you feel an abnormality in the body, or continued intake does not appear to improve symptoms. This is because the effectiveness of medication using Kangen Water® has not yet been tested. The pH level of stomach acids is about 1.8pH, and medication is prescribed in accordance to this pH level in order for it to take effect past the stomach. Therefore, to ensure full effect of the medication, we recommend leaving some time between taking the medication and drinking Kangen Water®
*Anaciditas
This symptom, also known as gastric acholrhydria, is found in people with a stomach acidity higher than the average human pH level of 1.8pH. This makes it harder for them to digest food. These people should not drink alkaline Kangen Water®.
What should I consider when starting to drink Kangen water?
Generally speaking, start gradually with a cup of Kangen water of a lower pH (pH8 to 9.0).
After continuing to drink for about two weeks, gradually increase the volume and raise the pH according to your body-build and physical condition. At a pH level of 9.0 to 9.5, drink the Kangen water as soon as possible after making it. Children or elderly persons should start with a low pH and raise the pH level gradually as they get accustomed to the water. For infants (under one year old), drinking Kangen water is not recommended, because until they can eat the same meals as adults, their intestinal functions with milk are different from those of normal adults. Note that Kangen water absolutely should not be used with milk that is given to babies or infants.
How is the water made?
The process for making the water is very simple. The machine simply connects to your faucet, you turn on the power, then the faucet and the magic begins. The regular tap water is initially purified by the internal filter and then ionized via electrolysis. This results in the water being separated into two types: alkaline (hydrogen-rich) and acidic (oxygen-rich). One stream, the drinking water, comes out the hose at the top, the other comes out the hose near the bottom.
All this combines to give the alkaline water a pure, fresh taste which keeps you hydrated and tastes better than any water you've had before.
Better yet, you can make as much of it as you want, saving you dollar after dollar that would have previously been spent on bottled water, bottled water which is environmentally wasteful and simply no substitute.

Studies have shown that alkaline water contains microclusters or exceptionally small water molecules.
